John (Jack) Gray
John (Jack) Gray came out of retirement to become the first principal of the Deep River Science Academy in Deep River, Ontario in 1987. Shortly afterwards, at the six-week summer program the academy offers, two students contributed to the development of a new technology to identify an unknown DNA end sequence. With successes like these, it is easy to see why colleagues credit Mr. Gray with helping ensure the future of science excellence in Canada.
