Outstanding Achievements:

Advanced in three years "from scratch," with no technology in class, to being a leader in technology integration:

  • applications include physics simulation software, multimedia tutorials and Internet research for the building of working models
  • Mr. Martha and students produced a CD-ROM on integrating and using technology for teaching science. This CD-ROM is distributed for no profit to other teachers.

Created and maintains ScienceMan!, a professional development and technology website. The site offers educational resources, hardware and software reviews, professional development information and hundreds of curriculum-matched and -reviewed links.

Mr. Martha's efforts to enliven science teaching and bring technology into the school have resulted in a marked increase in physics enrolment (72 per cent since 1996), increased numbers of students attaining the standard of excellence on provincial final exams, improved comprehension of physics and science concepts as demonstrated in class testing, and increased numbers of students involved in lunchtime activities in the science room.

Named a Pasco Technology Educator by Pasco Scientific in recognition of his efforts to bring technology into the classroom.
