  • Lectures, mock trials and debates develop critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Practical assignments encourage research skills and creative thinking.
  • Legal research and field trips to regional and Supreme courts to follow cases broaden understanding of the wide scope of law.
  • Guest speakers share experiences of law, which captures students' interest and allows them to practise listening skills.
  • PowerPoint presentations, Internet research, student-led seminars and statistical analysis teach use of new technology while putting students in charge of learning.

Revitalized Peer Helpers program, with significant increase in student interest and participation:

  • changed focus of course to be more practical and hands-on
  • each student implements a major aid project at school or in the community, and performs 70 hours of community service on top of this
  • student planning and execution of projects require planning, organization, communication, leadership, team skills and other employability skills
  • changes to course encourage general level students to stay with course, stay in school and involve themselves with school and community.
